Standing Committees

There is Strength in Numbers...

We strongly encourage our members to become involved in the Association's mission and purpose by joining one of our standing committees. Read below to learn more about out committees, who is serving on our committees, and where we have need for additional volunteers. Executive Committee chair is Russ Graveen. Other members include Nathan Birchler, Sherri Wagner, Theresa Graveen, Bill Goetz, Rick Parkin, Holly Kohl, Jim Wagner, and Dave Dalum. The committee consists of elected officers and at-large directors of the Association and is the driving force behind the Association. It represents the interests of Association members and manages the administrative and operating activies of the Association (see Board of Directors).

Finance Committee chair is Nathan Birchler. Other members include Theresa Graveen, Bill Goetz, Jeff Jarvenpaa, and Virgil Landretti. The committee prepares an annual budget for approval by the Board of Directors, recommends and/or organizes fund raising activities, selects a disinterested firm or person(s) to audit the financial accounts of the Association, and periodically reviews and reports ot the Board of Directors the budgetary status of the Association. We are seeking additional volunteers to fill this committee and help oversee the Association's financial health.

Membership Committee chair is Sherri Wagner, Secretary. Other members currently include Bill Goetz, Nathan Birchler, Travis Wistrom, John Beatty, Kathy Beatty, Julie Brekke, and Diane VanEyck. The committee initiates and coordinates actions to gain new members and to regain members in arrears. We are seeking additional volunteers to join our Membership Committee.

Civic Affairs Committee chair is Bill Goetz. The other members are Travis Wistrom and Jim VanEyck. The committee attends and reports on meetings of the town board, the school board, and when appropriate, the county board and is entitled to speak on behalf of the Association at these meetings, and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors. We are seeking additional volunteers to serve on this committee.

Weed and Algae Control Committee chair is Rick Parkin and co-chair is Holly Kohl. The other members include Bill Goetz, Jeff Jackson, Jim Wagner, Sherri Wagner, Dave Dalum, Norb Arnoldi, Marlys Arnoldi, Don Brekke, Mike Steele, Ed Zagzebski, Peg Wolff, and Polly Day. The committee recommends action to control weed and algae, organize and supervise control activities conducted by the Association, and reports on progress to the Board of Directors and general membership. This committee is charged with the responsibility of handling the public relations and financing of the lake study project, while working with other committees as need. Zoning and Pollution Committee temporary chair is Bill Goetz. Other members are Jeff Jarvenpaa, Ted Gerbig and Shawn Esser. The committee attends town and county public hearings relating to zoning, drinking water, and sanitation in the vicinity of Lake Wausau and is entitled to speak on behalf of the Association at these meetings when another elected officer is not present to speak. The committee will coordinate with public officials and riparian property owners on current or potential zoning, pollution, and other water quality criteria, and will report conditions and progress to the Baord of Directors and general membership. We are seeking additional volunteers to serve on this committee.

Recreation and Lake Use Committee chair position is currently open, but will be filled by one of the board members on this committee. Members are Bill Goetz, Dan Belter, Seth Calonder, Dave Dalum, Russ Graveen, and Sue Landretti. The committee attends town and county public meetings relating to recreational and other lake use matters on Lake Wausau; obtains information from and communicates Association concerns to law enforcement, DNR, and other public officials relating to fishing and boating on Lake Wausau; organizes and/or assists in boating safety and fish stocking/habitat activities; and reports conditions and progress to the Board of Directors and general membership. We are seeking additional volunteers to fill this committee.

Other - We also have an "unofficial" 2012 Picnic Planning Committee. Volunteers include Jim Wagner, Sherri Wagner, Wendy Waraksa, Mark Peter and Sue Peter. These members have volunteered to plan and coordinate our 2012 Member Picnic. WE THANK ALL OF YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING... your help is very much appreciated!!!
